Replaced the stock horns with a Stebel Nautilus Compact, tucked inside the driver's side front fender, forward of the tire.

My truck gets better mileage than that...in the summer at least.

I blame the fuel "economy" on poor cold enrichment and low load tunes, the short trips to work, and a handful of experimental WOT work on that first tank, plus that a single fill is not a reliable reading.

I posted it for laughs when contrasted with Rich's readings. We'll see what the next fill brings.

Rear wiper... complete! I also got the trunklid interior piece installed, and TJ dropped off a couple of other bits yesterday, as well. The car's coming together nicely.

<Moar can.> Valve covers filtered with the front can, crankcase filtered with the back. I'm pretty sure I'll find a way to route the hoses more cleanly, but I need to sort a few things out first.

Here's something interesting that I hadn't heard of before...

What led me to this: Mike621 has a gorgeous Bordeaux SVX that he's made all but new. He replaced the engine yesterday. In the process, as one would do, he showed a good share of pictures. One of them showed a circle about the size of the crank pulley etched into the timing belt cover. Crazy_pilot asked if that was common, or if it was an aftermarket/lightweight pulley thing. Mike said that he attributed it to crank walk.

FWIW, if anyone wants to see the timing belt cover on the Pearly's expired EG33, you can see right through the cut that the pulley made. If Mike had crank walk, mine may have been an extreme case.

What I've found: There's a good amount of speculation (at least in <Supra circles - see post 6 ->) regarding heavy, upgraded clutches and crank walk. It's believed by some that in starting the engine with the clutch pedal down, the force of the pressure plate pushing against the thrust washers is rather unhealthy. As their oil isn't pressure-fed, this gives them a few dry spins to suffer.

A good share of them have disabled the neutral safety switches on their clutch pedals to allow starting without disengaging the clutch and removing said pressure. They've even posted a <sticky> about it, albeit a slightly ghetto one. It's been suggested elsewhere that rather than simply bypassing it, for safety's sake, one should wire it instead to the parking brake.

I don't know whether the thrust washers in the EG (or the EJ, ahem) are fed by pressure or if they can succumb to this malady as well, but restoring the neutral safety switch to the clutch pedal is being altered in my list to attaching it to the e-brake. The Silver is packing a six puck clutch, and if there is potential for damage, I'm sure this can offer up a good spoonful.

Any input? If there's enough (and it's welcome), I'll gladly split this to another thread.

hmmmm....will be worth discussing next time i see ya.....just thinkin the eg and ej should have he same set up for thrust bearings....but at the same time thinkin about how the wrx 2.0 liter has a pull clutch instead of a push type.....i wonder if thats why....
